Climate & Environment Pillar 6

Waste Management, Recycling & Community Clean-Ups

Cleaner streets, unblocked stormwater drains, reduced single-use plastic, and community composting—protecting public health and urban resilience.

Active

Neighbourhood Clean-Up & Drain Protection

Uncollected plastic and solid waste choke urban storm drains during monsoon rains, turning streets into stagnant breeding grounds for dengue and malaria. Our volunteers partner with local residents for targeted street and school-zone clean-ups.

Active

Plastic Reduction & Eco-Schools

Working with students and teachers to replace single-use plastic bags with reusable cloth totes, establish segregated recycling bins on school campuses, and build youth environmental leadership.

Community Training

Organic Waste Composting

Demonstrating how household vegetable waste, fallen leaves, and market greens can be safely composted into natural fertilizer for community tree nurseries and kitchen gardens.

Clean Neighbourhoods & Youth Action

Community Clean-Up Drives & Green Recovery

Whenever Jamila Welfare Foundation clears an informal neighbourhood dumping spot in Karachi or interior Sindh, our volunteers follow up by planting hardy shade saplings so the space is reclaimed as a clean community green pocket.
